Gippsland Gourmet Country - Membership Criteria and Benefits

The objectives of the criteria are to provide guidelines of expectations from members of the association. It is basically a common platform that everyone can use to determine the extent of participation and growth of their business and involvement within the group.

Membership eligibility is for individuals or businesses directly involved in tourism that relate to and or support gourmet activities and the accommodation sector required to support the growth of such activities.

You are expected to demonstrate that normal business practice has been achieved in the following areas:

  1. Registration of your business in compliance with the relevant authority.
  2. Adequate and correct insurances particularly with regard to Public Liability are in place.
  3. You are aware and demonstrate knowledge of the necessary OH & S requirements for your business.
  4. A genuine commitment to attend and contribute to the growth path of the Group.

Group training of members in the following sectors is likely to be conducted depending on demand during the year:

  1. Insurance what you need and should know.
  2. Legal implications of running your business.
  3. Updated Workplace Health & Safety requirements.
  4. Risk management systems
  5. Financial systems where to now.
  6. Staff Training.

Benefits include but are not limited to the following:

  • Entry in the GGCTA brochure which is distributed at consumer shows, Federation Square, various information centres, the Baw Baw Shire Council and assorted tourism outlets.
  • Entry onto the GGCTA website.
  • Networking opportunities with other members, guest speakers and Baw Baw Shire staff through attendance at monthly meetings of the group.
  • Advertising opportunities at events where GGCTA have a presence.
  • The opportunity to participate and form part of the events conducted during the year such as Palate of Passions and The Long Lunch.
  • Guidance, understanding and assistance in building your business in Tourism.
  • Voting rights at meetings and AGMs.
